Special Funds

Girl Guides Tasmania exists to provide a safe and inclusive space for girls and young women to grow and thrive. As a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), Girl Guides Tasmania is committed to its charitable purpose. To help us achieve our purpose, we maintain various special funds which are reserved within the financial records of GGT for specific purposes.

Special funds have been created by each of the following methods:

1. By bequest or another type of lump sum gift. A bequest or lump sum gift may or may not have been subject to conditions at the time of gift. Many of these gifts have been placed in a reserve for a specific purpose through a decision of GGT rather than due to a condition on the gift.

2. By donations for the creation and maintenance of a specific fund; and

3. Determination by Girl Guides Tasmania to place funds from other operational activities in a reserve to provide funds for purposes that meet the objectives of GGT.

Thanks to the ongoing generosity of our donors, Girl Guides all around Tasmania have the opportunity to participate in State and International events. Without this generosity, Girl Guides could not exist, and we thank all of our supporters, donors, members and volunteers for their ongoing support.

A summary of our Special Funds is below. To find out more about how you can support Girl Guides in your local area or across Tasmania, please email [email protected].

Members of Girl Guides Tasmania can apply for funding for projects, activities and events to assist them to achieve their Girl Guiding and self-development goals.  For ore information on how to apply and a fund suitable for your request, please see this page in the My GGT section of our website. Please note this information requires a member log in to access.

Toni Miller Memorial Fund

Toni Miller first became involved in Guiding as a Brownie, and went on to be an active Guide, Sea Ranger, Leader and trainer.  Her love for and loyalty to the organisation remained throughout her life. After her death in 1984, her family and friends founded an Award in her honour to enable youth members to attend international Guiding events.  The Toni Miller Challenge was established to encourage Guides to extend their knowledge of international Guiding, and to develop their understanding of cultural similarities and differences.

Read more about her inspiring story here.

Applications for the Toni Miller Challenge are accepted throughout the Guiding Year. $2000 will be awarded to eligible recipients towards a project or event of the participant’s choice. The focus of the award is either international or environmental, as these were significant interests of Toni’s. Other projects may be accepted at the discretion of the selection panel.

To find out more about participant and/or project eligibility, visit our dedicated Toni Miller Challenge page. To donate to the Toni Miller fund, please contact Katrina [email protected] or visit our donors page. Please ensure you include Toni Miller Fund donation in the reference field.

Give in your Will.

How would you like to be remembered?

Large or small, when you include a gift to Girl Guides Tasmania in your Will, you are providing girls in Tasmania a voice in the future. Your gift will directly contribute to their development as they discover their potential as leaders of their world.

For over 110 years, Guiding has provided a safe space for all girls in Tasmania to be themselves, discover their potential and make a difference in our communities all over Tasmania.

But we rely significantly on the generosity of people like you. With a legacy donation you can make an unforgettable difference for generations to come, in Tasmania.

It’s simple to include a bequest. All your solicitor needs is our ABN 60693395913 and registered name – Girl Guides Association (Tasmania). Even a gift of 1% of your estate to GGT will support the investment our Program makes into a girl’s future pathway.
