About Us
Guiding in Tasmania was established in 1911 due to the demand from girls wanting to become Girl Guides. Today, Girl Guides Tasmania is the largest youth organisation for girls and young women in Tasmania with almost 800 youth members and 200 volunteer Leaders and adult Members.
Girl Guides Tasmania is made up of 4 Regions, which contain over 18 Districts throughout Tasmania. Each District may be made up of several multi-aged Units, with youth
members aged 5 to 17, Leaders (18+) and Junior
Leaders (14-17) in various roles.
Girl Guides Tasmania is an organisation that creates safe and friendly environments for children and young people where they can:
- feel safe and are protected from harm
- have a say in planning activities and other decisions affecting them
- are listened to
- are respected
- have their best interests considered and upheld
We are an organisation that welcomes and actively seeks members from all racial, ethnic, religious and socio-economic groups. Girl Guides Tasmania is a member organisation of Girl Guides Australia and a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
