Girl Guide Event Reports
Sunship Earth - 10 to 14 June 2008
Sunship Earth held at Orana was enjoyed by 23 Guides. The concepts covered by the program, in a creative and hands on way are Energy Flow, Diversity, Communities, Change and Adaptation. To see the girls 'being' clouds, part of chain gang, detectives, birds, animals, spies inside a leaf trying to work out how photosynthesis works, and more is great fn, and to have their new understandings tested as they create their own 'model planets' on the final day confirms we've managed to get our points across.
All Guides enjoyed the off-site activity in the Meehan Ranges, with a natural community being 'destroyed' and the plants and animals who live there fighting for their lives in Judge Mopner's court... some unfortunately condemned to die!
A formal Sunship meeting finished off the program, with Guides contributing their ideas on how they can 'make a difference' and finally putting together a 'partnership agreement' to try to live by after their return home. Many thanks go to all who helped in any way to again offer this amazing program that adds so much to the Guiding calendar.

Fun + Friendship = Funk Leadership Weekend
The leadership weekend held on Friday 30 May to Sunday 1 June 2008 was an amazing opportunity for Guides aged between 14 and 18 to come together and challenge themselves, learn new skills and make new friends. The weekend was a fabulous success and was enjoyed by everyone who participated.
