Sunship III

Wanted: Cycle Factory operators, intrepid explorers to excavate the 'Ruins of Sol' and a curator for the museum project. Also required: exhibitors, biologists, chefs ... be prepared to learn about our planet and question your own perceptions and choices. Sunship III is a camp for 13 and 14 year olds and will be held at Nindethana in Term 2 2010.

Save the Koala Month

September is Save the Koala Month and this year the Australian Koala Foundation are joining with Girl Guides in the sale of temporary koala tattoos which will help protect koalas across Australia.

JOTA/JOTI

JOTA (Jamboree of the Airwaves) and JOTI (Jamboree of the Internet) is your chance to learn some new communication skills, make friends with people on the otherside of the world or just next door and have some fun. JOTA and JOTI activities will be happening at various locations around the State on 17 and 18 October.

Water Activities Days

Each year Girl Guides Tasmania holds water activities in the north, north-west and south. The north and south have already had a ball at their water activities day in 2010. Guides in the South can join in the fun on 7 November 2010. Talk to your Leader for more information.

ACE 2010

The Australian Centenary Event (ACE) 2010 is an international jamboree for approximately 1500 girls that will be held between 3-10 January 2010 at Yarra Junction in Victoria. It is sure to be a fabulous event. For more information about this and other centenary events click here

Travel Opportunities

As a member of Guides Tasmania, you can apply to attend an International Guide event during 2009 or beyond or you can volunteer at a World Centre belonging to the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.

Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI)

Every year in the third weekend of October, The World Scout Organisation holds two simultaneous events called JOTA and JOTI. JOTA stands for Jamboree On The Air and JOTI stands for Jamboree On The Internet Jamboree On The Air (JOTA), is an event where Guides and Scouts can communicate with each other over radio amateur frequencies with the assistance of a local radio amateur crew.

Jamboree On The Internet (JOTI) is an event where Guides and Scouts from all over the world meet and communicate with each other over the Internet. Most of the communication happens through email or in supervised chat rooms through the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network.
